Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica

"When we discussed the concept of Steampunk Erotica in the Naked Reader's Book Club I was intrigued. I like Victorian Erotica and I also like stories of fucking machines; the idea of putting both together seems like magic! I am very pleased to report that it IS magic and Carnal Machinesshould be on every lover of Victorian Erotica's bookshelf. "

Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica

"n this anthology there are two stories that include smart, sexy Chinese women, and I like it for that reason alone. There are 14 stories altogether, which is quite a generous number. It’s surprising, then, that they are of a consistently high quality."

• “Anal Submission… Or Not” by D. L. King: This story is all about the eternal question – is anal sex a submissive act? Ms. King has anal sex down to an art, a woman after my own heart. This story is so hot the pages will burn your fingers. I suggest keeping a good supply of clean, dry underwear handy.

Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica

"It would be easy to get lost in the devices of this ersatz era – they could so easily steal the show – but it is that the tales don’t do this that makes the collection shine. I’m a firm believer in the strength of narrative in erotica, and it’s obvious the authors in this anthology are cut from similar cloth. The devices are indeed carnal, but it’s the characters who take you there."

"Hands down the best anthology of vampire erotica I’ve read in nearly 20 years, The Sweetest Kiss: Ravishing Vampire Erotica is an absolutely stellar collection of fantastic stories that deliver everything one wants from this type of book: complex vampire societies, the passion of the hunt, the angst over immortal life, and tons and tons of hot sex."

Where the Girls Are: Urban Lesbian Erotica

'There is good variety with the stories in this anthology. Several are scorching hot and many are not really romantic but are single encounters between women. [. . .] This is another lesbian anthology from Cleis that I recommend for anyone looking for satisfying short stories about attraction, and sex, between women."

Yet Another Review of Where the Girls Are

"This compilation of short stories is satisfying on numerous levels—there is variety of length, fetish, pace, style, and even talent. We cruise through night clubs, BDSM initiations, taxis, butt plugs, whips, cityscapes, cocktails, and a rushed stint through the backstage of a fashion show. We’re even introduced to a ‘50s pinup lookalike in these pieces of “true tales and explicit fiction.”"

Where the Girls Are: Urban Lesbian Erotica

"Where the Girls Are is a smooth and delightful entertainment that is as slick and slippery as a three-card Monte pitch on 42nd St in the heyday of the real Times Square. This book is an anthology of urban legends created from the authors’ lesbian fantasies (or perhaps memories?) -- both lipstick and butch -- of far-flung cities. I should point out here that D. L. King, founder and publisher of Erotica Revealed, edited Where the Girls Are. Much as it pains me to suck up to authority, I am bound to say that it is very ably put together and presents us with an engaging mix of settings and tastes."

Broadly Bound

"Broadly Bound, as an anthology of BDSM GLBTQ erotica, is surprising in a number of ways. The writing is of high quality across the board. While there are some stories that are more captivating than others, it can’t be denied that Beth Wylde, Syd McGinley, D.L. King, Kathleen Bradean, and Cassandra Gold all have a gift. Their characters seem to come alive in the first page of each of their stories and by the end of the book you feel like a voyeur who was doing some live-action peeping."

Best Lesbian Erotica 08

"The anthology finishes strongly with work by several well-established erotica talents. Rachel Kramer Bussel’s “Domme Games” delivers the immediacy, snappy pacing and hot—or shall I say “highly effective”?—dialogue, we’ve come to expect from her stories. D.L. King’s “A New York Story” seems as first to be an entertaining tale of a woman who prefers ghostly lovers over the flesh-and-blood variety—with plenty of New York real estate lore and jokes to make you smile. However, the unspoken tragedy at its climax showed me yet again that most of the stories in this book merit the attention we give a “literary” work. King’s story is, in the end, not just a sizzling paranormal romance, but an allegory. The truth is we often need a catastrophic shift in the “normal” to see our relationships for what they really are."

The Melinoe Project

"...The Melinoe Project is DL King’s first full length
title. The author of many arousing short stories,
King exudes a formidable talent for teasing, torment
and titillation. In this all out extravaganza of
female domination and male submission King excels.
The tone of The Melinoe Project is tempered slightly
by the flavour of romance, but it’s a romance on the
strictest of terms and with an edge that’s as hard and
cutting as surgical steel..."
